HOD x Casuarina Square: Designing a Playground That Feels Like Darwin
At House of Darwin, we've always believed the best spaces are the ones built with the people who use them.
That's why we're excited to be partnering with Casuarina Square to reimagine their indoor playground and create something that feels unmistakably Territory.
For years, the playground has been a place where kids have played, parents have taken a breather, and families have gathered between school runs, shopping trips and weekend outings. Now it's time to create a space that reflects the Darwin of today.
Designed With Community, Not Just For It
Everything we do starts with listening.
Just like our Hoop Dreams courts, community spaces and creative projects across the Territory, this playground will be shaped by the people who know it best: the families who use it every day.
We've been working closely with Casuarina Square and listening to community feedback to understand what children want, what parents need, and what makes a space feel welcoming, safe and uniquely Darwin.
A Playground That Tells a Territory Story
We don't believe great design should look like it could be anywhere.
This project is an opportunity to create a space inspired by the colours, textures and stories of the Northern Territory. A place that sparks imagination, encourages connection and gives local families something they can be proud of.
Because when kids see their place reflected in the spaces around them, it creates a stronger connection to community and to home.
More Than A Playground
For us, this isn't just about slides and climbing frames.
It's about creating a gathering place. A space where families can connect, where children can explore, and where the spirit of the Territory is celebrated every single day.
We're excited to share the journey as the project comes to life and can't wait to show you what's next.
Together with Casuarina Square, we're creating more than a playground.
We're creating a place that feels like Darwin.
