HOUSE OF DARWIN FLAGSHIP STORE
Designed locally. Built with intention. Informed by Country, reflecting the story of the land it stands on. Drop into a territory state of mind at 2/20 Knuckey street - darwin city.
One of our centrepieces is a repurposed Numero Featherston sofa, created in collaboration with Printshop NT and the incredible women of Peppimenarti. The fabric was hand-dyed using traditional bush dyeing techniques and natural pigments, guided by generations of cultural knowledge.
The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that sits proudly in our space—carrying the spirit of the land and the hands that shaped it. More than just furniture, it’s a symbol of connection: between old and new, design and culture, story and place.
We sourced our stones locally through Finlay’s Stone in Darwin, a family-run business known for its quality materials and deep connection to the Territory landscape. Working closely with their team, we selected stones that reflect the rugged textures and earthy tones of the Top End. Every piece was handpicked with care, ensuring it carried a sense of place and authenticity. Choosing to work with Finlay’s allowed us to support a local supplier while staying true to our commitment to using materials that speak to the environment and stories of the Northern Territory.
Speargrass HiFi built a set of Territory-made speakers for House of Darwin’s new store, drawing on deep roots in both local culture and global sound system history. After a few yarns about design direction, a vintage style was chosen — paying tribute to the old-school box-stacking technique that first blasted out of Jamaica decades ago.
These speakers carry more than just sound; they carry stories. Crafted from recycled equipment that’s seen its fair share of gigs, they’ve been a part of the Darwin music scene for years, and now they’ve found a new home.
This isn’t just about the people who built them, it’s about the gear itself, and the way it continues to echo through our community.
