Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki 'Self Portrait' Shirt
Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki (1973 – 2024) was a Yankunytjatjara artist from Indulkana, on the APY Lands in north-west South Australia. Largely non-verbal, he relied on his creative pursuits as a primary way to express himself.
Dedicated to his daily work at the Iwantja Arts centre, producing a vibrant body of work influenced by his love of music, particularly rock ‘n’ roll bands Creedence Clearwater Revival and AC/DC. His art often referenced the Anangu concept of ‘mamu’ (spirit beings) and was inspired by his passion for sci-fi movies and television. The playful, imaginative works blended these influences into a whimsical visual realm — a joyful tribute to the people, stories, and passions that shaped his world.
Earlier in 2024, House of Darwin had the honour of collaborating with Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki before his passing.
